In (Matthew 12:32), ” 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.” NKJV.
The same passage is recorded in (Mark 3:28-29), “28 “Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29 but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation” 30 because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.” NKJV.
Verse 30 explains why JESUS said this. Because they (the pharisees) said that HE expelled demons in the name of satan, and because JESUS was full of the SPIRIT of GOD, they were really saying the HOLY SPIRIT is satan, which is the worse blaspheme one can make.
(Acts 2:3-4) recounts how the HOLY SPIRIT in the day of Pentecost fills them all who were in that room. “3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” NKJV.
This is the SPIRIT that JESUS was full of, and the same SPIRIT came into all the believers from that day on.
For us Christians, the HOLY SPIRIT is whom provide us with everlasting life. (Galatians 6:8), ” 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” NKJV.
In other words, no one who does not have the SPIRIT in them will attain salvation.
As it is written in (Galatians 3:2,14), ” 2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? … 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. “ NKJV.
We receive the SPIRIT by our faith in CHRIST. Faith that HE is the son of GOD, that HE died for our sins, that HE resurrected after three days and ascended into heaven.
So we see there is an order to obtain salvation, first we must have faith in JESUS, and thanks to our faith the SPIRIT of GOD comes into us building that faith up until we obtain salvation and everlasting life.
Without the SPIRIT of GOD, there is no salvation.
If you blaspheme against the SPIRIT, the SPIRIT will leave you or HE will never come into you, and as consequence you will never have the chance to build up your faith for the SPIRIT will not teach you anything, and you will never obtain salvation.
So, it is clear now why a blasphemy against the SPIRIT of GOD is the ultimate sin, a sin of life ending consequences.
Now let’s focus on clarifying other examples in the bible that cause the same life ending consequences and see if they are the same sin.
in (Matthew 26:14-16), “14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. 16 So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.” NKJV.
Judas was planning to betray JESUS but at this point he hasn’t done it yet, he is just thinking about it.
In (Matthew 26:21), “ 21 Now as they were eating, He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” NKJV.
During the Passover meal JESUS gives Judas another warning, he hasn’t betray HIM yet, but in (Matthew 26:24), ” 24 The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.” NKJV.
The same passage is recorded in (Mark 14:20-21), “20 He answered and said to them, “It is one of the twelve, who dips with Me in the dish. 21 The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born.”” NKJV.
This is judas’s final warning, he is told here there will be no forgiveness to his actions.
Judas’s betrayal is not a different sin, it is the same unforgivable sin, blasphemy against the SPIRIT of GOD. We must remember that judas by being one of the twelve, witnessed directly with his own eyes all the wonders and miracles JESUS did but most importantly, he was sent by JESUS himself, after HE gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, to preach the kingdom of GOD and to heal the sick (Luke 9:1-2). So judas was not only a witness but also a miracle doer, he himself healed the sick and preached he kingdom of GOD, then when he betrays JESUS, he denies the existence of GOD, he denies JESUS as the son of GOD and he denies his faith which breaks any possible link with the HOLY SPIRIT, making it impossible for him to obtain salvation again.
Rebellion against GOD can only happen once you know of GOD, and you only know of GOD if you have the SPIRIT of GOD in you, then rebellion against GOD is denying GOD, saying the SPIRIT of GOD is not of GOD, which is the blasphemy against the SPIRIT.
In (Matthew 27:4-5), “3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!” 5 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.” NKJV.
Why would he hang himself if he was remorseful? Because he knew there would be no forgiveness for him, JESUS himself told him so in (Matthew 14:20-21) above.
We found a similar situation in (Isaiah 14:12-15), “12 “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! 13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ 15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.” NKJV.
Lucifer rebels against GOD, trying to pose as god, but he knows GOD, he is a witness of GOD’S power in the kingdom of GOD, and to be part of the kingdom he has to have the SPIRIT in him, but when he rebels he denies the SPIRIT of GOD and without the SPIRIT he can not be part of the kingdom and he falls. His end will be the lowest depths of hell, for eternity.
In (Mark 9:42), ” 42 “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.”” NKJV.
Again we find another unforgivable action, in this case against children. Is this different than the blasphemy against the SPIRIT?
We find the answer to this question in (Mark 10:14-15), “14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.””NKJV.
HE said the kingdom of GOD is of the children, but we know that to be part of the kingdom we must have the SPIRIT, then the innocent children must have the SPIRIT in them, so they must have been born with the SPIRIT in them.
As it is stated in (Genesis 2:7), “7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” NKJV. This breath of life is the HOLY SPIRIT and it has been given to all mankind since Adam walked on the earth. If you notice in genesis when GOD makes Eve out of Adam’s rib, HE doesn’t breath the SPIRIT in her, why? because she comes from Adam and Adam already has it. That way any other descendant of Adam is born with the breath of GOD in him, including all the children.
The connection between the creator (GOD) and the creation (child) is the HOLY SPIRIT; and if you make a child stumble (sin), you make him deny the SPIRIT and because of his innocence it is not him who does it, it is you who blaspheme against the SPIRIT, you knowingly break the bond of creation between GOD and the child which is the HOLY SPIRIT and that is unforgivable not for the child but for you.
John the apostle explains the unforgivable sin in (1 John 5:16), “16 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. 17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.” NKJV.
John says we can ask the LORD to forgive those who have not sinned the sin leading to death, which is the blasphemy against the SPIRIT, and the LORD will grant us their forgiveness, but for those who have blasphemed against the SPIRIT, do not even ask, because they will die the eternal death.
Now we have reached the most controversial passage of all, but I think we are ready for it.
In (Revelation 14:9-11), ” 9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” NKJV.
From this passage it is clear that worshiping the Beast and his image, and receiving the mark of the Beast in the hand or the forehead is punishable with eternal damnation, the three cause the damnation. But we know that worshiping the beast or his image is just idolatry, that is not an unforgivable sin. There are satanic worshipers who have left their practices and repented and now are exemplary Christians, so what makes this idolatry unforgivable?
I think the answer is not just in the Beast itself but in what is going on at the time that the tribulation starts. As the tribulation starts, the ministry of the Two Witnesses starts also.
In (Revelation 11: 3), ” 3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”
The ministry of the Two Witnesses will last three and a half years.
In (Revelation 11: 4-6), ” 4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. 6 These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.” NKJV.
The Two Witnesses stand before the GOD of the earth, they will do HIS will, and they will have the authority to defend themselves with fire from their mouths, killing their enemies, showing power over the waters and plagues, punishing the whole world with them.
The Two Witnesses will reveal the power of GOD to the world, making it impossible for anyone alive not to be aware of who they are and what they are saying. They will be saying there is only one GOD, and JESUS is HIS only son, and they will do what they do because of the SPIRIT of GOD in them. They will bring to sight the Arc of the Covenant, the Tablets of the Ten Commandments, and many other things of the bible. Everything will be revealed and nothing will remain hidden. Then, once their ministry is finished, (Revelation 11: 8-11), ” 8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves. 10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth. 11 Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them.” NKJV.
We must keep into consideration that while the Two Witnesses testify, what is left of the Church of the LORD, the Christians who were left behind, who were not taken in the Rapture, will be under great tribulation by the whore of Babylon. They will use the Noahide Laws to kill every confessing Christian left in the world. The last day of the Church on earth is the day the Two Witnesses resurrect.
As we can read in verse 10, all the world will be happy they are dead, Why? Because they tormented them for three and a half years. Three and a half years the world has been told there is only ONE GOD and YEHOVAH is HIS name.
And as the world thinks they finally killed them, and by the way all the remaining Christians with them, three and a half days after they will resurrect, just like JESUS did, they will be brought to life by the SPIRIT of GOD.
If you take the mark of the Beast, and worship the Beast and his image during or after the Two Witnesses testimony you will be denying GOD three times and rebelling against HIM, and blaspheming against the SPIRIT of GOD saying it was the devil who resurrected them.
So my dear brothers and sisters be warned, do not take the mark of the beast. It is better for you to die than to take that mark for taking it is blasphemy against the SPIRIT and there is no coming back from there. I will publish a future post called “the mark of the beast”, that will show why it is possible that the mark will cause a genetic mutation in those who take the mark making them an abomination unto GOD.
